Christ is the Reason

The incarnation, God becoming man in order to reconcile His creation unto Himself, the long awaited Desire of Nations taking the form of a babe. Worshipped by local shepherds, and wise men from the East following a star, bold prophesy applied to the child, by Simeon, Zacharias, and Anna, that this was the savior of the world to come to earth. This birth occurred at a fixed, recorded point in history, and for the next thirty years the child waxed greater in wisdom and stature with God and man, fulfilling His offices of prophet, priest, and king. We, being wrapped in the tumult of a presidential election, often have erred by placing our hope in a man, of the state for our provision and salvation. The Declaration of Chalcedon stands starkly against this notion by clearly defining Christ's nature so that no ground can be given to man, or State, as divine entities, as was often the case in ancient cultures. The larger message of Scripture is reechoed through Isaiah: The Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king, He will save us. The story of Christ's birth draws is to remember that it is He alone we are to look to for our salvation, and that it is He alone in whom we are to place our trust for provision. Merry Christmas to each of you, and, after celebrating the blessings of family, friends, and the birth of our Savior, may we carry forth into the new year honoring our God, and trusting His love for us.

Lord bless, Rep. Sage G. Dixon
